        Dial based Analog Multimeter

        In those days small firms used to make DPM's digital panel meters with 7107. In 1987 when i got a opportunity to design a DPM for a firm, I put the 555 clock in place CD4009 clock shown in intersil, to derive the -5. I created this design to study Eagle Editor. It is not tested by me, but all concepts/modules have been used by me in my designs earlier. It ought to work with some tweaks.

        If you are building LED Lamps and Solar powered lighting, a LUX Meter and a Energy Meter is required to measure what has been achieved. One is the Efficiency of Power Conversion and Other is Illumination comparable to the lighting people are used to.

        Mims was interested in science at an early age, and he built an analog computer as a high school science fair project in 1960. While memorizing his Latin class vocabulary words, Mims conceived a computer that could translate twenty words from one language to another.

        The input was six potentiometers (variable resistors) each having a dial with 26 letters. Entering the first six letters of the word on the potentiometers set a total electrical resistance. The memory of known words was a bank of 20 screwdriver-adjustable trimmer resistors.

        Guglielmo Marconi, an Italian electrical engineer, transmitted the first wireless signal in 1895. By the turn of the century he had formed telegraph companies in England and opened the first wireless office in New York City. In 1901, Marconi telegraphed the letter "S" across the Atlantic Ocean. The U.S. Navy was so impressed that it replaced a flock of carrier pigeons with the "wireless" for ship-to-shore communications.

        Two years after inventing the phonograph, Edison brought the world the incandescent light bulb. Thirteen years later, his start-up electric company would merge with the Thomson-Houston Electric Company and be renamed General Electric.

        Why use the 8085 one might ask. Well it's a straight and simple traditional 8-bits processor with hardly any strange quirks, except perhaps that the data bus is combined with the lower part of the address bus to save pins. This trick is often used and you only need a one way latch to keep the address stable while the bus is used for data in the second halve of the memory cycle.
